Jackson Equipment Sale
This annual event is one of the largest equipment auctions in the
Mid South! Come watch and bid on all types of farm equipment. This event has
been running for over 15 years and is always a huge success. Over 100 pieces of
equipment will be offered during this event. Food and drink will be on hand as
well.
March - Easter Egg
Hunt
The Decatur
County Chamber of Commerce sponsors this annual event. The event is held at the
Decatur County Civic Center, which is located just south of Parsons TN. on Hwy
69. The event starts at 12:00 sharp. This event has been running for over 20
years and is always a huge success.

County World's Largest Coon Hunt
The Decatur County World's Largest Coon Hunt
Benefit for St. Jude is an event held annually for Coon Hunters on the second
full weekend of April, Thursday thru Sunday, each year since 1976. During this
time they have raised over 2.3 million dollars for St. Jude's Children's
hospital in Memphis Tennessee.

Spring Festival
The Town of Scotts Hill hosts a "Spring Fest", each April with entertainment,
food booths, vendors, arts and crafts, games, clowns, door-prizes, side-walk
sales and lots of shopping at local merchants. The Town of Scotts Hill Senior
Center has card games and dominoes for the Senior Citizens. For more info call

Timber and Lumber Show

seminars, and special events, like a skidder & Loader competition, lumberjack
competitions, and marketing opportunities. See live equipment

Thompson Machinery, Caterpillar, Blunt, Timber King and others. Watch the
Decatur County FFA Forestry Team invitational competition and see
students from all over the state compete. This event is being sponsored by the

May - Relay for Life
Event Info: Relay For Life is a national fundraising
event for the American Cancer Society. In 1985 a surgeon in Tacoma, Washington
wanted to raise money for the American Cancer Society. He made his way around a
track at a local college for 24 hours, more than 83 miles and raised over
$27,000 for the fight against cancer. The following year 19 teams joined
together to form the first team event to fight cancer. Currently, Relay For Life
is held in more than 20 countries around the world with more than three million
participants in the United States alone.
Decatur County became involved with Relay For Life in 1995. We began at the
Decatur County civic center area and raised $9,000. During the past 10 years we
have grown in size with a total of 16 teams and 14 corporate sponsors. We have
moved to the Decatur County Fairgrounds with our entertainment activities taking
place in the convention center. In 2005, we raised over $43,000. From the
beginning of Decatur County’s Relay For Life events we have raised approx.
$256,959 for the fight against cancer.

August - On Course" Golf Tournament
The Decatur County Chamber of Commerce hosts the
annual "On Course" Golf Tournament each year which is held at the Tennessee
River Golf Course located on the beautiful Tennessee River. Directions: From
I-40 Exit 126 - Take Highway 641 South to Parsons, turn left at the first
traffic light in Parsons, go approximately 5 miles on Highway 412 East, turn
right on Highway 100, go 3 1/2 miles and turn left on Mt. Carmel Road. Go 31/2
miles to Yarbro Harbor Road. Golf Course on right.

- Decatur County Fair
The Decatur County Fair is a week long annual event
held in September beginning on Labor Day. Decatur County Fair is considered one
of the best small fairs in the state—receiving the ‘Most Improved Fair’ award in
1999. The event is coordinated by the Fair Board and conducted by local
volunteers. The Educational Exhibits –including crops, canning, handicrafts and
needlework are a major part of the event and give an opportunity for youth and
adult residents of the county to display their handiwork and win premiums and
ribbons. The fair also gives youth an opportunity to compete in livestock
events, horse shows, pet shows and other individual contests conducted by the
fair. A highlight of the fair is The ‘Fairest of the Fair’ contest and the other
pageants that are held for each age group from babies through young adults.
Local business partners support the fair with their commercial exhibits and
sponsorship of events and shows. Volunteers spend many days entering, displaying
and assisting with judging of exhibits and also serving as hostesses of the
exhibit building. There is something for everyone at the fair—including the
carnival–which adds its own excitement to the event.
September – Freedomfest
Join the Decatur County
Education Foundation in a fun-filled day of celebrating our country’s freedom.
From the “American Beauty” Pageant, to Kiddie Land at its best, Freedom Fest
offer’s fun and entertainment for all ages. Concessions are available all day
along with local talent. The day is always caped off with a top notch band
playing at 7:00 p.m. Come join the fun in downtown Parsons. All proceeds
benefit the Decatur County Education Foundation.

October - Scotts Hill
Appreciation Days
The Town of Scotts Hill hosts a "Appreciation Days",
each April with entertainment a parade, cake walk, food booths, vendors, arts
and crafts, games, clowns, door-prizes, side-walk sales and lots of shopping at
local merchants. Party jumpers are always on hand along with petting zoo, sand
art, yo-yo balloons and more. The Town of Scotts Hill Senior Center has card
games and dominoes for the Senior Citizens.

December – Breakfast
With Santa
Each year the Education Foundation host Breakfast With Santa as a
fund raiser for the foundation. This annual event is held during the first
Saturday in December and is a big hit with the kids. Events include face
painting, making your own picture frame, pictures with Disney characters,
reindeer food and much, much more! Children of all ages are invited to come
