The Educational Exhibits –including crops, canning, handicrafts and needlework are a major part of the event and give an opportunity for youth and adult residents of the county to display their handiwork and win premiums and ribbons. The fair also gives youth an opportunity to compete in livestock events, horse shows, pet shows and other individual contests conducted by the fair. A highlight of the fair is The ‘Fairest of the Fair’ contest and the other pageants that are held for each age group from babies through young adults. Local business partners support the fair with their commercial exhibits and sponsorship of events and shows. Volunteers spend many days entering, displaying and assisting with judging of exhibits and also serving as hostesses of the exhibit building.
